Bis jetzt gab es sie nur einmal, die "48 Portäts von Persönlichkeiten, die die Moderne beeinflussten". Sie hängen in der Eingangshalle des renommierten Kölner Museum Ludwig, gemalt Anfang der 70er Jahre in fotorealistischer Manier von Gerhard Richter, 59. Die weniger nach inhaltlichen und mehr nach formalen Kriterien ausgewälten Porträts haben nicht nur einen Haken, aber den vor allem: sie zeigen ausschliesslich Männer. 20 Jahre später antwortete der Maler Gottfried Helnwein, 43, seinem Kollegen: Er malte die "48 Frauen-Persönlichkeiten". Die Wand im Museum, die den Männern gegenüberliegt, ist noch frei.
